Twelve rowers from the Bairnsdale Rowing Club travelled to Nagambie to compete in the Master's State Championships two weekends ago, rowing in fifteen different events held over both Saturday and Sunday, including Lynne who rowed in the Victorian Female Masters C and A-B Grade Eight twice, winning gold both times.

Bairnsdale collected gold in the Male Masters C Quad, Mixed Masters C Four, Mixed Masters D Four and Bronze in the Female Masters D Quad and Female Masters D Four.

Competition Highlights

A highlight of the competition was the Bairnsdale Male Masters C Quad, Owen Smeal, Tim, Mike M and a Carrum rower racing against and beating two mixed eights which are known to be faster boats than quads.

Caspar was very pleased with the results from the weekend, stating "all our masters have shown big improvements over the past year, which is reflected in the great results from the weekend. It is a big step up from last year and I’m sure there will be more success to come in the future !"

A crew of eight masters is now preparing to compete in the 2018 Australian Masters Rowing Championships, hosted by Rowing Tasmania at Lake Barrington this week.
